GGM believes there are at least 3 reasons for global ministry.

Obedience

The Great Commission clearly lays out a mandate for global ministry. Jesus said,

“Go therefore & make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:19-20)

This, in itself, is enough motivation for global ministry.

Jesus also said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (Matt. 28:19-20)

This isn’t to say that every Christian must be a global worker. But instead, every follower to Christ should obey God’s command to make disciples wherever he or she lives & works.

That said, God does call many of his followers to global ministry. Obeying His leading, whatever it may be, can indicate genuine salvation & maturity.

…Every follower to Christ should should obey God’s command to make disciples wherever he or she lives & works.

Gratitude

Ministry to all people groups should come naturally out of deep gratitude for our undeserved gift of salvation. While we were sinners, God redeemed every genuine follower to Christ because He loves us & seeks to bring glory to Himself. Colossians 2:13–14 says,

“And you, who were dead in your trespasses & the uncircumsion of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”

Godly wonder leads to godly gratitude, which in turn leads to serving God however & wherever He leads.

Someone has said that wonder leads to gratitude. The psalmist, Asaph, was filled with wonder & gratitude when he said,

“Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, & afterwards you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh & my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart & my portion forever.” (Ps. 73:23–26)

Godly wonder leads to godly gratitude, which in turn leads to serving God however & wherever He leads.

Need

The Scriptures clearly state that “everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,” (Acts 2:21) & “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

John 3:18 says,

“Whoever belies in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

“And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

Romans 10:13-15 says,

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Also, “So faith comes from hearing, & hearing through the word of God.” (Rom. 10:17)

The need is great & God is at work through the Word of God shared by faithful global workers. Unsaved people need the Lord. Believers need to be edified through the Word of God being taught to them. There is no greater commission!
